We are committed to ensuring our Health and Safety Representatives are fully trained so they can be effective champions for health and safety in the workplace.
The initial training for Representatives is in accordance with the NZQA unit standard 29315.
Note: Only Health and Safety Representatives who have completed training for the above unit standard may issue a provisional improvement notice or direct unsafe work to cease.
Further training will be provided as required. Representatives are welcome to suggest particular training they consider may benefit them and the business.
Legislation prescribes the amount of paid leave for training for every organisation, which is set out in the table below. For such training the business will:
| Workers as at Specified Date (1 April) | Maximum paid leave (days) |
| 1-5 | 2 |
| 6-50 | 6 |
| 51-280 | 1 for every 8 workers or part thereof |
