A final telephone reference check is required for all senior and salaried retail roles (ie Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager/ Multi Store Manager). For all non retail roles, a telephone reference check is also generally required. Please contact Head Office for further advice (sue@vapemerchant.nz) regarding final reference requirements for non retail roles.
For level 3 Retail Assistants, a telephone reference check (in addition to Referoo checks) is strongly recommended but not required.
The Hiring Manager must conduct these reference checks after the second interview and prior to making an offer of employment.
Under the Privacy Act the collection or release of personal information requires the applicant’s approval and it is better to have such authorisation in writing. Also note that under the Privacy Act you may not disclose any information about an employee without the employee’s consent.
