Implementation Plan Overview

Any restructure must have a clear implementation plan. The essential elements include:

• Preliminary planning including development of a comprehensive written proposal covering all stages of the process:

- The proposal itself
- The timetable
- The consultation process and what it includes
- Feedback mechanisms
- Proposed selection criteria
- Interview process
- Redundancy selection process
- Implementation of the new structure

• Properly briefing those managers who will be involved in the process.
• Presentation of the proposal to affected employees (including employee information packs where appropriate).
• Consultation phase to receive and consider employee feedback.
• Announcement of the new structure.
• Interviews and selection process
• Notification to successful and unsuccessful applicants.
• Appointment / termination phase.
• Implementation phase.
  
  

While the processes of consultation and notification should not be prolonged, do not compress to the point that you risk claims of sham consultation and predetermined outcomes.
